What is a travel clinic?

A travel clinic provides the vaccinations, antimalarial medication and health advice you need to stay safe abroad. At Belgrave PharmHealth in Highfield, your appointment begins with a travel health risk assessment: our pharmacist reviews your destination, itinerary, planned activities and medical history, then recommends exactly what you need — no more, no less — drawing on trusted sources including NHS Fit for Travel and NATHNAC. You can usually be vaccinated the same day. We cover everything from hepatitis A and typhoid for popular holiday destinations to yellow fever, rabies and the meningitis ACWY certificate required for the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage. Being a central, inner-city clinic with free parking, we are far easier to reach for most of Sheffield than travel clinics on the city’s outskirts. Whether you are off on a family holiday, a gap-year trip or pilgrimage, we make getting travel-ready straightforward.

Travel vaccinations we offer

We provide a comprehensive range of travel vaccines, including:

  • Hepatitis A and hepatitis B (and combined)
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow fever — with ICVP certificate from a registered centre
  • Rabies (pre-exposure course)
  • Meningitis ACWY — including for Hajj and Umrah
  • Cholera, tick-borne encephalitis and other destination-specific vaccines
  • Antimalarial tablets, also available to order online

When should I book?

Aim to book six to eight weeks before you travel, since some vaccines require more than one dose or a little time to take full effect. If your trip is sooner, don’t worry — come in anyway. We can often arrange accelerated schedules and will always give you the best protection and advice possible in the time available.

What’s included in your visit

  • A personalised travel health risk assessment with our pharmacist
  • Clear recommendations for vaccines, antimalarials and precautions
  • Same-day vaccination where suitable
  • Certificates where required, including the yellow fever ICVP
  • Practical advice on bite avoidance, food and water safety and travel kit

A travel clinic in the heart of Sheffield

Location matters. Our clinic sits on Asline Road in Highfield, minutes from the city centre and surrounded by communities — Sharrow, Nether Edge, Darnall, Burngreave and beyond — with strong travel and pilgrimage needs. With free on-site parking and frequent buses along London Road, we are genuinely convenient, unlike clinics tucked away in the outer suburbs. For Sheffield’s many families travelling to South Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and for our large local Muslim community preparing for pilgrimage, that accessibility makes a real difference.

Hajj, Umrah and specialist travel health

We are proud to support Sheffield’s Muslim community with dedicated Hajj and Umrah vaccinations, including the meningitis ACWY certificate required for entry to Saudi Arabia. We also offer yellow fever vaccination and certification as a registered centre — a service not available at every Sheffield pharmacy. Whatever your destination, our team will make sure you travel protected.

Frequently asked questions

How far before travel should I book?
Ideally book your travel health appointment six to eight weeks before you fly, as some vaccines need more than one dose or time to become fully effective. That said, a last-minute appointment is still worthwhile — we can often give accelerated schedules and practical advice even close to departure.
Which travel vaccinations do you offer?
We offer the full range of travel vaccines including hepatitis A and B, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies, cholera, tick-borne encephalitis, meningitis ACWY and more, plus antimalarial tablets. Your pharmacist recommends what you need based on your destination, activities and medical history.
Do you provide yellow fever certificates?
Yes. As a registered yellow fever centre we provide the vaccine and the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), which is required for entry to some countries. See our dedicated yellow fever page for details.
What does a travel consultation involve?
Your pharmacist reviews your itinerary, planned activities and health history, then recommends the vaccines, antimalarials and precautions appropriate to your trip — drawing on NHS Fit for Travel and NATHNAC guidance. You can usually be vaccinated the same day.
Where exactly are you, and is there parking?
We are at 20 Asline Road in Highfield, S2 4UJ — a short distance from Sheffield city centre with free on-site parking and excellent bus links along London Road. Unlike travel clinics on the outskirts of the city, we are easy to reach from central and inner-city Sheffield.
Can you help with Hajj and Umrah vaccinations?
Absolutely. We provide the meningitis ACWY vaccine and certificate required for pilgrimage, plus other recommended vaccines, and we understand the seasonal timing around Hajj and Umrah. See our Hajj and Umrah page for the full package.
